Jumper settings and cabling
On the QUMETRAK 142, no jumper settings have to be made except Drive Select (DS). Please do not get confused. The drive numbers can be described in the literature with DS0 to DS3 or DS1 to DS4!
Floppy A: Since the 142 still uses the Shugart bus, it must be jumpered here on DRIVE 2 or DS2 (the 2nd drive) and the floppy be connected to the plug behind the twist. All other signals are transmitted as with the PC 34 interface.
In the end, the cabling and jumpering is like the IBM PC/XT/AT. Always select the second drive (DS2) and connect drive A after the twist (with terminating resistor) and drive B before the twist (without terminating resistor). That's it.
